What are you grateful for?

I'm grateful for my family, for my friends, and for finally starting to find a way to let go of things I've let stay bottled up for too long. Everything else for me just seems to follow at that point.

Everything. If it sucks we can learn from it. If it doesn't we can enjoy it.

Charlie.

My health.

Sunshine.

The support of my family and friends.

Having the presence of mind to be able to support them, too.

Being able to look people in the eye and say the truth about how I'm feeling.

Truthfully being able to say I feel good most of the time.

The pile of unopened bills is still there, but it's smaller, and I get around to paying them before the electricity goes off or the car crashes or I get evicted. If not total serenity, it is at least, the absence of disaster. So, grateful. :D

All the dumb luck I've had this year.

The ability to choose my own destiny.

And every one of those 358 days.

My freedom. Being free (enough) to be able to choose how I spend my days and who I spend them with.

Everything else follows from there.

hmm.

I'm grateful that I've lead the life I've had and that I've been able to grow and change and adapt.

I'm grateful that I can walk and breathe and feel and not live in constant pain.

I'm grateful that I have two intelligent beautiful kind children who are on their own paths.

I'm grateful that I have a job, that I have a roof over my head, and that I have the luxury of being able to provide my children with things and experiences and that I never had.

I'm grateful for all the people I've met over the years, and their contributions in making me see things from different points of view, in encouraging me to explore avenues in myself that were either dead, or that I didn't even know existed.

you know, pretty much everything. : )

My first apartment, shared with roommates who are trusted friends.

That way fuseji doesn't have to lock up the PS2.

Right now, I'm grateful that my day involved me coming back from the shops, unpacking the groceries and preparing red Thai curry with the person I love.

I'm also grateful that the person I love is a really good cook.

And tea. I'm always grateful for tea.

Time.

How it clarifies the reasons for the painful bits and brings us distant from them.

How it brings more good parts, inevitably. No matter how you may feel at any given moment.

Even as an abstract concept, it's one of my favorites.

patience - on the rare occassion that it shows its face. having all of my senses.

warm socks. candles. knitting. old black and white photos. laughter.

perspective - who is even more rare than her sister, patience.

grateful that i was born in the US, smart and educated, relatively healthy blah blah blah; the basics...

grateful that i will never be the subject of senate confirmation hearings...

grateful that I managed (just today!) to become a live journal user...

grateful that even though currently there's not much to be grateful for, there's a lot in my past that i am very very grateful to have experienced and people i'm very very grateful to have known and been close to.

i think i'm most grateful for my capacity for gratitude. if that's not a totally assinine response. it's just... well, i'm glad i know what i've got going for me.
